Lets talk about gear. i am looking for a new kimono specifically a bjj kimono. the cut and fit is different for bjj then for judo or traditional jj. currently i am using a true black double weave ronin judo gi. the gi is stout it can take a beating but used in bjj it is to lose. i find myself fighting the gi to slip into position more then fighting my partner. So i am looking into some other kimono's. now keep in mind i was training in Budoshin Ju-jitsu when i purchased this gi, i figured it was better then nothing when i started formal training in bjj. here are my three finalist dun dun dun duuuunnnn:
Spartan Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Gi's / Kimonos" https://www.hatashitasports.com/prod...ID=34&source=# North American Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Gameness Pearl Gi - D-Green

i am leaning towards the second one. i know a dojo around here that uses gi like that one specifically because it is durable and is good for throwing people around..... the second one should be out right dismissed because it is camo and you won't be taken seriously
..... the third looks fine, but i have not heard anything either way about that type.

i am going to get the spartan in blue becuase no one seems to know about them and i might aswell give it a whirl. the camo is for nastalga becuase its the same print i wore in combat, i dont think that the people i train with would think any different if i had that gi... lol i could get it for tourny's and put my CIB,EIB and jump wings on it,

Well when it comes to brazilian jiu jitsu gi's, it really is all about branding.
the only difference between gi's are the weight really. So you must decide if you want a light or heavy Gi and what color? That is what matters most. And of course price matters! Why pay over $100 for a bjj Gi when you can get one for as low as $75? Just doesn't make sense. Hope this helps! Enjoy! |
