Default Choy Lay Fut

Could someone please define to me what exactly the system of CLF encompasses? It seems to me it is a long range version of Wing Chun

Calling Choy Lay Fut a long range version of Wing Chun, is not unlike calling Boxing a version of Capoeira for the hands. The two systems are so different as to be almost total opposites.

The stances in CLF are much deeper and lower than those of WC, so as to maintain balance when striking. WC uses only low kicks, where as CLF uses kicks for all ranges and targets. Choy Lay Fut has no chain punches, and no centerline concept. WC has none of the wide circular punches CLF is known for.

WC tends to generate power with driving, linear techniques. CLF uses circular, loose whipiing power.

Finally, the post important difference, CLF is actually an effective martial art.

Thanks, I made one post here and then lost my internet connection for a couple of weeks. Wasn't my plan to just stop in, rant and leave.

I have trained in Buk Sing Choy Lay Fut for the last two years, and various other martial arts for varying amounts before that. Choy Lay Fut is definitely the right art for me.

Thanks for the welcome.

Calm down mate, I meant it as a joke. I would never say _ng _un is not an effective art.

Not effective? Absolutely! But art? Never!
