Default Hypothyroid and adrenal fatigue

Anyone else ever suffer from this? I found out from a recent blood panel that my TSH test (for thyroid function) is twice normal, which means I am massively hypothyroid. I suspect adrenal function is part of the picture as well, although I didn't test for that. That explains the constant exhaustion, muddled thinking, and the fact that I just can't stay awake. I don't have a doctor. The blood panel was gotten through a health fair. But a lot of doctors just push Synthroid at you. I've taken Synthroid. It helped, but doesn't entirely resolve the problem. That might be because it didn't address any adrenal problem.

Just wondering if anyone else was affected by this, and what you did.

I haven't, but I have some friends on another forum who have. I'll ask them what they've been doing, and see if I can get an idea of how well it helped them.

I'm confused.

I thought Hypo-thyroidism would give you a low level of thyroxine in your blood but would indeed make you more susceptible to low temperatures, make you lethargic, more likely to put on weight etc etc.

Hyper-thyroidism would give you high levels of thyroxine, make weight drop off, make you irascible, hot etc etc.

I used to have an over-active thyroid and have radio-iodine treatment for it. I was given a large dose as apparently my thyroid was quite aggressive, large and being a young male, more likely to need a higher dose.

Now I should be taking 100mg of thyroxine every day to keep it all in balance; according to the docs.
I, however, disagree. I know my own body and have not taken any supplementary thyroxine for well over a year. Last blood test results? Almost bang on normal levels.

I have Hypo-Thyroid and take Thyroxine every day. I felt a dramatic change in myself within a week of starting it. I too suffered from extreme fatigue, despite sleeping 12 hours+ per night. Now it's regulated I feel so much better, plus in the UK, it means I qualify for free prescription medication which is saving me quite a tidy sum each month
