wow, this is incredably misleading! i would in no way suggest that getting into MMA is a good investment. so many people are trying to be involved in MMA that the competition is really tough.... but thanks for the illogical leap that going to this Expo will somehow associate us with MMA and open up business opprotunities.

Yeah. Based on other fads, MMA is likely about at its peak. New people getting into it are likely to find themselves shut out by those who have an established reputation.

When I first started college, I went into a program to get involved in "the hottest trend in the arts job market," computer illustration, video, and advertisement. I got into the program right as the market became saturated. Two years into it, I realized that I stood zero chance of getting a job over my more talented classmates, and dropped out. This looks to be the same thing.

Well, the International MMA Expo for the Southwest was held at Rawhide last weekend (October 11th). The expo was quite a disappointment as myself and everyone else there seemed to really be expecting more out of the event based on the advertising and hype. I registered to compete in the MMA tournament at 155 pounds. Despite the poor event, the tournament fights held on Saturday night were pretty good.

I think there were issues matching up guys in the proper weight classes too. Several guys obviously looked mismatched and several backed out of fights. I was anxious to fight but the guy I was matched up with was also obviously bigger than me. I won the fight by armbar in the second round but left the cage with a bruised rib and shoulder. Regardless, it was an awesome experience and I can’t wait to do it again.
