Capoeira is brilliant fun but absolutely exhausting. I studied it in Cambridge but when I did it the emphasis was on learning everything so not only were we taught the movements and fighting aspects but we also learnt the instruments for the jogo such as bongos and the birambau. Totally facinating!

are the instruments purely for music or are they used as weapons too?

Purely for the music. The music is important as it sets the pace for "the game" (the fight) plus it makes you feel like a complete part of the group

Yeah, all the songs are the tempo of the "game". It looks really cool. I tried learning it just for fun, just a few moves, but to me, unless you are an expert, won't work too well. However, Eddie on Tekken is amazing =P. Here is a video that I personally think is really awesome.

Even the little kid can do stuff!! haha

Well, they call the fight, "the game" So that's why we call it that. In capoeira "fighting" you aren't really supposed to hurt the other guy
