Has anyone read this book, it's b y Frederick Lovret. It's an amazing book. A great insight into martial arts. He is a Japanese martial arts practitioner but I think that anyone practicing can learn something from that book. I am going to read it again soon, as there is a lot of information that I did not understand the first time through, as I was much younger.

The average, unenlightened western mind when looking at this book, will ask - "How can standing like a tree possibly do anything at all?". It's a fair response and I empathise with people reacting in this way: This is exactly what I thought myself. However, after looking at all the old photographs in the book of ancient masters standing like a tree, I thought to myself - "Would these highly educated and enlightened old men stand there like a tree if it didn't achieve anything?". Obviously they wouldn't. So determined to find out what all these old guys were/are experiencing, I just followed along with Master Lam's very clear, concise instructions. For the first couple of minutes - nothing. Then, I began to feel a slight tingling senation in my fingers and and hands, then, a few minutes later, - BINGO, EUREKA. It was like I had struck GOLD - amazing. I could feel this huge ball of Chi energy in front of my stomach. It was/is very real. Chi is invisible to the naked eye, but utterly and totally tangible to the sensory organs in the hands.
